What started out in 2003 with extending a helping hand to 26 children in need, has rapidly expanded to now provide assistance to an astounding 601 children and their extended families in twenty-four villages within the Greater Letaba Municipal area.
The word ‘thusanang’ is the Sepedi word for ‘helping ‘, and this is precisely what the organization has done – extended a helping hand to vulnerable children and orphans, helping to provide for their spiritual, educational, material and emotional needs, thus giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Based on Christian principles, the organization strives to care for vulnerable children and orphans through their home-based care and drop-in center initiatives. It has grown exponentially over the years and is currently the largest organization in Limpopo caring for orphans, this under the direction of project managers, Andries and Nelly van der Merwe and the
Horizon Thusanang board.
